An original artwork owned and commissioned by M+S for Marina One

Centred around patterns and formations found in nature, CURRENTS is a site-specific arrangement of 23 suspended modules in brass-toned stainless steel for the West Tower Lobby.

The varying configurations were first developed from paper origami models before being converted into parametric models for further refinements. Subsequently, the digital models were printed and scaled up to the actual dimension. After which, master craftsmen at the foundry forged and finished the modules by hand, transforming sets of multiple small metal panels into single large saddle-shaped and twisted rings.

Inspired by the notions of flow and circulation in nature, the artwork’s organic contours reflect the louvre bowl architectural feature of Marina One, culminating in an expression of infinity and continuity.
