Udara Yang Bergerak

Udara Yang Bergerak
2012
Commissioned by Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay

As a central meeting point, the Esplanade Concourse is a critical and highly charged site. Meaning moving air in Malay, Udara Yang Bergerak is a spatial composition that abstracts the flow and energy of the space. The moving air suggests a latent current that is capable of shaping and affecting things. More importantly, it resonates with the concept of harmony where air movement is controlled by the continuity of flow to create equilibrium. The site-specific installation is an arrangement of hand-shaped laser-cut metal strips in various dimensions and shades of blue. The units are suspended from the overhead grid and they are connected to form an organic structure.
